Well, this isn&#8217;t one of them. You&#8217;ll need a microwave-safe mug or container. I&#8217;m mentioning this because during one of my test runs of this recipe (specifically the syrup part), I used a regular glass jar and it shattered. Result? Lost a jar and made a mess in the microwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, even though the recipe doesn&#8217;t expand, it can still threaten to overflow in the microwave. So, if that happens, you&#8217;ll want to make sure you&#8217;ve got a mug big enough to catch it and pause the microwave before it&#8217;s too late. That way, your flan will only fill about half the mug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the mug is too small, your easy microwave keto pudding will turn out small too. Unless you&#8217;re intentionally making a small batch to save some dough for later (which can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days), I&#8217;d suggest opting for a larger mug. I know, it might sound like a hassle, but I promise you, the recipe is totally worth it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1 bowl\/container:<\/strong> You can use any pot; you&#8217;ll just use it to mix the ingredients for the batter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1 sieve:<\/strong> When a recipe has few ingredients, they tend to be very noticeable in the final result, but nobody wants a flan that tastes like eggs, right? To solve this problem, simply strain it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1 whisk or fork:<\/strong> Continuing with the topic of the egg in this 4-ingredient recipe, when it goes into the microwave, if it&#8217;s not thoroughly mixed, it can burst and create a mess. The good news is that adding a bit of instant coffee, cinnamon, or vanilla extract solves this issue!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Honey or molasses + water:<\/strong> While this option isn&#8217;t as low-carb as using xylitol (since xylitol has fewer calories than honey or molasses), it still yields a healthy and incredibly tasty result. Tip! If you opt for honey or molasses, ensure you&#8217;re using a mug that&#8217;s 110% microwave-safe or make the syrup in a saucepan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sugar + water:<\/strong> I understand this option may be controversial because sugar isn&#8217;t as healthy as the other ingredients. However, if you&#8217;re running low on alternatives, it can serve as a viable option.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients for the Keto Flan Batter:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Egg:<\/strong> Just like in the original recipe, the egg is irreplaceable in this healthy version, much to the dismay of vegans.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sweetener, sugar, honey, or molasses:<\/strong> Similar to the syrup, you have the option to choose one of these ingredients for your recipe. Just keep in mind that this choice will alter the calorie and nutritional content of the recipe as a whole. Personally, I enjoy this hint of coffee, but if it&#8217;s not to your liking, you can reduce the amount or opt for one of the other suggested flavorings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Microwave the mixture every 30 seconds, pausing to stir, for 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds, or until the syrup is well combined. Allow the syrup to cool and thicken slightly, then spread it over the sides of the mug (about halfway up) by rotating the cup or using a spoon (leave a small amount at the bottom).
